Campaign Priority 1: Restore Stability Through Strong Governance

DeSoto does not need confusion, mixed signals, or reactive leadership it needs strong governance. Strong governance means the board understands its role, communicates clearly with the public, sets measurable goals for student outcomes, and holds the superintendent accountable for results.
I have seen firsthand what happens when governance is disciplined and what happens when it is not. Stability in a district does not happen by accident. It comes from clear roles, transparent communication, thoughtful oversight, and leadership that is willing to ask hard questions before issues become crises.
My priority is to help restore a culture of governance that is focused, transparent, student-centered, and accountable to the community.
Campaign Priority 2: Rebuild Financial Trust and Protect the Classroom
Families and employees deserve to know the truth about the district’s finances. Trust is built when the community understands how decisions are made, where the money is going, and whether those decisions are aligned with student needs.
The district is facing serious financial challenges, and we cannot afford business as usual. Every dollar must be aligned to what matters most: students, teachers, classrooms, and long-term stability. Fiscal responsibility is not about fear. It is about stewardship.
I will advocate for transparent budgeting, realistic planning, stronger oversight, and clearer communication so the community is not left guessing. Protecting the classroom must always come before protecting bureaucracy.
Campaign Priority 3: Keep Student Outcomes at the Center
Every board decision should come back to one question: how does this improve outcomes for students?
I believe in strong academics, literacy, math achievement, college and career readiness, and closing persistent gaps for students who have too often been overlooked. I also believe we must pay attention to the whole child. Students need schools that are safe, structured, and focused on both excellence and belonging.
I have spent my career in education working to improve outcomes for students, including English Learners, students receiving special education services, and families navigating systems that are not always easy to access.
My commitment is to ensure DeSoto ISD remains focused on measurable student growth, not just adult comfort.
Campaign Priority 4: Support and Retain High-Quality Teachers

Strong districts keep strong teachers. Teachers deserve fair compensation, professional respect, and working environments where they can focus on instruction and student growth. They should not have to carry the burden of poor planning, instability, or unclear leadership.
Retaining high-quality teachers requires more than salary alone. It requires district stability, strong campus leadership, clear expectations, and a board that prioritizes classrooms.
My focus is to support the conditions that help teachers stay, grow, and succeed while making sure our financial decisions are responsible and sustainable. When we support educators well, students benefit immediately.
Campaign Priority 5: Strengthen Community Trust, Voice, and Connection
The district belongs to the community, and the community should never feel shut out of the conversation. Families want to be informed. Employees want to be respected. Students want to be heard. Trust grows when leaders show up, listen, communicate clearly, and remain present outside of election season or crisis.
I believe in making sure the community understands both the progress and the challenges in the district.
I believe in listening without defensiveness and communicating without spin. I also believe student voice matters. Students are not just recipients of policy. They are directly impacted by every decision we make. My goal is to help build a district where families, staff, and students know they matter, know they belong, and know their voices carry weight.
